Closing the GEP.Opening the economy.

Propella Global Initiative is a South African non profit closing the GEP (Gap in Economic Participation) for the communities where it is widest.

  • Green literacy
  • Entrepreneurial literacy
  • Profit literacy

The Gap Is in Access, Never in Ability

The GEP is the distance between what a person needs to know to take part in the modern economy and the chance they have had to learn it.

It is a gap in access to a specific, teachable body of knowledge. Because it can be taught, it can be closed.

Green literacy

Where is the economy moving, and how do I get into it?

Environmental rules are seen only as a cost, not as a market to enter.

Entrepreneurial literacy

What should I build, and is it a business?

Many community enterprises are activities, not businesses.

Profit literacy

Am I making money, and how would I know?

Businesses are fully occupied but have no margin, no cash buffer and no basis for pricing.

Multiply, not add.

A shortfall in any one part collapses the value of the other two. That is why PGI addresses them together, as one system, and never in sequence.

Our vision is to close the GEP for 10 million people across Africa, beginning with the rural and historically disadvantaged communities where the gap is widest.

This is a horizon, not a forecast. It states the scale at which the problem must be addressed. It is not a promise made to any funder.

Our Mission

To close the GEP by advancing Green, Entrepreneurial and Profit literacy in underserved communities, and to prove the value of that work through measured, tested and auditable social return on investment for every partner and sponsor who funds it.

How PGI Works

Four workstreams carry the GEP framework from the classroom into communities, markets and policy.

  • A

    Community Delivery

Outreach events, boot camps, workshops and financial education across the GEP framework.

  • B

    Access and Enablement

Access to financial products and capital, and partnerships that open green value chains to small businesses.

  • C

    Advocacy and Policy

Policy engagement on the green economy, entrepreneurship and financial education, up to head of state level.

  • D

    Partnership and PPP

Public private partnerships with academic, funding, technology, green and ESG partners.

  • Each workstream feeds the next. Delivery generates the evidence for advocacy. Advocacy opens access that enablement turns into opportunity. Partnership supplies the reach that delivery alone cannot achieve.

Partner With PGI

We work with organisations that want outcomes they can verify. Partners receive attributable outcomes, the methodology behind them, the underlying data and, once in place, the independent assurance opinion.

  • Corporate ED, SD, SED and CSI contributions
  • Foundations, trusts and development funders
  • Government and public private partnerships
  • Contributions in kind: technology, venues and expertise
